My name is Rick Marcoux from Lewiston,Maine.
My son Brandon served in the army for 10 years with 2 tours to Iraq for 1 year each tour. He was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton,Ok. for 9 years and had 2 of their 3 children while they were there.
For over 2 years he worked many 18 hour days serving our country and taking college courses .  His goal was to get as many promotions as possble.  He went as far as 2nd lieutenant. While at Ft.Sill his wife went through thyroid cancer and my son had several injuries from his 1st tour and several more on his 2nd tour and was having a difficult time with his injuries.
He was then sent to Fort Benning,Georgia.
While there they had their 3rd child.
His injuries were getting worse and soon the army discharged him with disabilities.  At present my son is 90 percent disabled. He is struggling with PTSD, severe back issues and pain in his shoulder and neck.  He also may need knee replacement surgery soon. He has short term memory loss and has many other problems.
My son returned home to Lewiston, Maine with his wife and 3 children(my daughter-in law is also from our city)in June of 2014 and was officialy out of the army in August of 2014.  In the year since he has been home he collected the maximum of 6 months of unemployment.  He recieves a small amount of money from the government. He may never work again and was just refused social security.  He has been trying to get all his records from the army so he can start collecting his disability payments but has been stymied by red tape.  He spends all his time going to doctors, having tests and picking up meds.  He spends tons of money for gas and tolls(he goes to Mass General every 6 weeks) and to the VA Hospitol in Augusta. He also spends alot on co-pays for meds and some visits.  He has been to the emergency room more than 6 times in the past 8 months for horrible back pain.  He has had to make hundreds of phone calls in the year he has been home for some help or questions and so on.
I am 59 and disabled and my wife (his step mom)works 2 jobs.  We have used our savings to help him get into a home and to support them.  We all know how much it takes to raise 3 childen.  His wife takes care of him and the 3 kids.
She has to remind him to take meds and for doctor visits etc etc.
There is so much more I could write but I could write a book of how our soldiers are treated when they leave the army.  He was hoping to serve 20 years.
My son has so many bills(cars, home and over $30,000 for college).  He would have been homeless if we did not use our savings. They would have helped him then but we would never let that happen.
So I ask anybody out there who reads this(sorry it is so long )to send me any help they can.  Even one dollar.
Most importantly is to send this cry for help to as many people as you can.
My son is so stubborn and hates to ask for help but I am not.  I love my son so much and I hate to see him suffer not only with all his pain but struggling to take care of his family.
Everything I have said here is true and is actually worse than what I have written.
Thank you so much.  Please send this to everyone you know and to everyone they know and so on.  The United States loses 22 soldiers every day to suicide.
Please, please, please.... I do not want my son to be one of those.
Thank you,
Richard Marcoux     Lewiston,Maine
