Helping Jay and his Family

I wanted to start this fundraiser for close friends of mine. They live across the street and my daughter is friends with their kids. I can’t explain it as well as them so this is in their own words:

A month ago today I got the phone call that every parent wishes they didn’t get!! Your son has Cancer

Immediately we were sent to the Stollery for test, MRI’s, CT scans and a Biopsy we finally got the results last week that Jay has Lymphoma in his hip and neck and we have started chemo and it has already started to shrink the huge mass in his hip thank god we still have 4 months of chemo treatment and trips back n forth to Edmonton but the results are really good and treatable ❤️❤️

I would like to thank my family, friends and my work family for the support you have given us we appreciate you so much Thank you ❤️❤️

I know they have to adjust their work schedules to provide care for their son and travel back and forth to Edmonton. I can’t imagine the emotional and financial strain this unexpected challenge would put on anyone. She is such a strong mother and she has never seemed inclined to ask for anything. But I think if we can raise some money to help offset the travel costs, the time they have to take off from work, or any other expenses then I think it will give solace knowing that they may have even just one less thing to worry about.

I wasn’t sure what to set the goal for because it’s hard to put a number on what this will eventually cost them over the next few months. But I’m sure if you put yourselves in their shoes and think about the time you would take away from work or the things you would do to be their for your child it’s clear to see how imperative it is that we come together and support this family.
