On April 24, 2021 Officer Lander, of the North Infirmary Command, was                   escorting one of RIKERS ISLAND’s most assaultive inmates to the shower. At this point the inmate becomes irate and           on cue Officer Lander gets splashed with Urine and Feces from the rest of the           inmates on the 2C tier. Officer Lander      then  secured  his escort hold on this          inmate who aggressively pulled away.
The assaultive inmate was taken to the
ground and the PBA was activated.
While attempting to secure the inmate
Officer Lander was repeatedly doused
with Urine and Feces while being
threatened that he would get  
CUT by all the inmates on the 2C tier.
The Probe Team arrived and was given
the  same treatment with the
“UNKNOWN” liquid substances.
5 weeks later Officer Lander was
SUSPENDED for the LANGUAGE he
used while being assaulted by a gang of
inmates as he performed his job.
The “Rapid Review” by the facility,              clearly states this UOF was unavoidable and no discipline was recommended.
Yet, Officer Lander was given a
suspension of 7 days by individuals who never walked a tier in their lives.
