Support Felix Valencia’s Fight Against Cancer

Our father, Felix Valencia, is our hero.

For as long as we can remember, he’s been the embodiment of strength and selflessness. A single dad who worked three jobs to ensure we had everything we needed. Despite his long hours, he always made time to be there for us – as a devoted soccer coach, a volunteer at our schools, and a loving son who never hesitated to care for his elderly parents. He’s also the proud grandfather to five beautiful granddaughters, and buys them, as well as his grandnieces, matching Christmas dresses every year. Even now, in his later years, he continues to be our rock, and his granddaughters' best friend.

Felix is the kind of man who puts others first – taking our three dogs on regular runs five days a week, keeping in touch with each of his children, and showing up for us in every way possible, even as we’ve all grown into adulthood. His strength and dedication have always been the foundation of our family, and he’s always been there when we needed him most. He’s more than just a father – he’s our best friend, our guiding light, and the best Papi we could ever ask for.

However, in January 2025, our world was turned upside down when Felix traveled to Mexico to visit his mother. During his stay, he began experiencing severe pain, which led to a medical diagnosis he never expected: advanced Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Unknowingly, Felix had a cancerous tumor growing inside him that had spread to his appendix and parts of his small intestine, large intestine, colon, and spine. He successfully had the tumor removed as well as the affected parts of his other organs. However, he will need an additional surgery to bind the intestines together in addition to chemotherapy.

This devastating news means that Felix is now unable to work or continue providing for the responsibilities he’s always carried so diligently. His time in Mexico, where he must stay to receive care and treatments, has left him with mounting medical bills and personal expenses. With his income gone and his focus now on healing, we’re struggling to manage the financial weight that comes with this crisis.

Nuestro padre, Félix Valencia, es nuestro héroe.

Desde que tenemos memoria, ha sido la personificación de la fuerza y el altruismo. Un padre soltero que trabajó en tres empleos para asegurarse de que tuviéramos todo lo que necesitábamos. A pesar de sus largas horas, siempre se hizo tiempo para estar ahí para nosotros: como un entrenador de fútbol dedicado, un voluntario en nuestras escuelas y un hijo cariñoso que nunca dudó en cuidar de sus padres ancianos. También es el orgulloso abuelo de cinco hermosas nietas, e incluso ahora, en sus últimos años, sigue siendo nuestro pilar y el mejor amigo de sus nietas.

Félix es el tipo de hombre que pone a los demás primero: saca a pasear a nuestros tres perros cinco días a la semana, se mantiene en contacto con cada uno de sus hijos y está presente para nosotros de todas las formas posibles, incluso cuando todos nos hemos convertido en adultos. Su fuerza y dedicación siempre han sido la base de nuestra familia, y siempre ha estado ahí cuando más lo necesitamos. Es más que un padre: es nuestro mejor amigo, nuestra luz guía y el mejor Papi que podríamos pedir.

Sin embargo, en enero de 2025, nuestro mundo se puso patas arriba cuando Félix viajó a México para visitar a su madre. Durante su estadía, comenzó a experimentar un dolor intenso, lo que lo llevó a un diagnóstico médico que nunca esperó: linfoma no Hodgkin. Sin saberlo, Félix tenía un tumor canceroso creciendo dentro de él que se había extendido a su apéndice y partes de su intestino delgado, intestino grueso y colon. Se le extirpó con éxito el tumor, así como las partes afectadas de sus otros órganos. Sin embargo, necesitará una cirugía adicional para unir los intestinos, además de quimioterapia.

Esta noticia devastadora significa que Félix ahora no puede trabajar ni seguir cumpliendo con las responsabilidades que siempre ha llevado con tanta diligencia. Su tiempo en México, donde debe quedarse para recibir atención y tratamientos, lo ha dejado con crecientes facturas médicas y gastos personales. Sin sus ingresos y con su enfoque ahora en la curación, estamos luchando para manejar el peso financiero que conlleva esta crisis.

Estamos pidiendo humildemente donaciones para ayudar a apoyar a nuestro padre durante este momento increíblemente difícil. Su generosidad no solo nos ayudaría a cubrir los enormes gastos médicos, sino que también le brindaría a nuestra familia el apoyo emocional que tan desesperadamente necesitamos.
