My loving Dad...Mark Falla, was born in July 1969.
My Mum, Nicky Falla was born in March 1974.
They first met when they were 13 & 17 & have been inseparable ever since.
In August 1996 i was born and they married in August 1998.
My Mum, Dad and I have always been extremely close, we have always loved going on family holidays to places like Queensland, Thailand and Bali.
In June 2013 my dad felt sick at the time we thought it was food poisoning. It eventually passed but then not even a week later came back in full swing, we proceeded to go to our local GP where we underwent test after test after test to try and work out what was going on with my Dad.
Early July 2013 we got the devastating news that my Dad had bowel cancer that it had spread to his liver, lung, intestine and some muscles in his leg.
As you can imagine the day we found out my dad had cancer, our fairytale family felt as if our whole world came crashing down around us, and we were devastated.
We were all so certain that we were going to kick cancers butt and we never thought for a second that we would be where we are today.
We were then sent to Box Hill hospital, where we were immediately admitted to undergo emergency surgery.
The long 7.5 hours in surgery was the longest wait of my life, and thats where the biggest battle of our lives began.
2 years down the track we have undergone, chemotherapy, radiation, clinical trials and anything else we could possibly imagine. BUT NOTHING IS WORKING. We have been given the news we were dreading, we have been told that our fight has come to an end, & we could have only a few weeks.
My Dad was the main income earner for our family, & his illness has now lead to him having to give up the job he loved so much, he now requires full time care at our home and my mum has taken on that role.
With no income, medical bills, mortgage, and every day living expenses coming in, with more to come my family is struggling to make ends meet.
My dad has always been a very proud man, and my mum doesn’t like asking for help, so this is all a secret at this point, but soon enough I’m sure they will get the most amazing surprise of their lives.
