My name is Melissa and I'm an extremely confident and self-sufficient woman who has a very hard time asking for help, so writing my story and doing just that is one of the most challenging things I've had to do in quite some time. Unfortunately due to my current situation, I don't have any other option or choice. So here goes… About two weeks ago my long time "now" ex-boyfriend attempted to kill me. He held me down on the floor and beat me up for nearly half an hour while attempting to choke me to death. Somehow I managed to get away after such extreme abuse and I was able to escape to my next-door neighbors house, who then called the police as well as the paramedics. Since then, I immediately acquired a restraining order so that I will never have to see or deal with him again. With him no longer being in the picture, I am now unable to afford to live in my home that I have been renting for over 2 1/2 years. My landlord is being very generous and is giving me until midnight April 1st to find a new place, as well as to pack and move out... leaving me very little time to make all this happen, especially with very limited finances. I'm embarrassed to admit that I am not in a financial position to make all this happen on my own without help, especially since I am just now finding out he wasn't paying any of the bills for the past two months, leaving me with lots of overdue payments that are in my name that I am now responsible to pay but can not afford. Through everything I am still taking care of his animals as well as my own, one of which has a serious heart condition that requires multiple expensive meds that she can not go without. Being the good kind hearted person that I am, I continue to care for them even though I really don't have the finances to do so, especially with having to move in such a rush.  And as much as my mom and dad would love to help me, they are both financially unable. In order to pay my past due bills as well as to move, I'm looking to raise around $4000 if at all possible. This would allow me to put down a deposit on a new place to live as well my first month's rent, on top of all moving expenses and overdue bills. To make matters even more complicated, I am also in the process of filing for bankruptcy which doesn't give me the option to sell anything in order to come up with any additional money on my own. So with all this being said, I am hoping whoever reads this is able to open their heart in order to help me get out of an unimaginable situation, one that I never thought would happen to me. So for anyone that is able to help, I appreciate it more than you will ever know and will forever be grateful for your generosity.
