Hello! My name is Gage Harmes, and I am a student at the University of Wisconsin, Steven's Point, studying Wildlife Ecology and Management. I have recently been given an opportunity to travel, live and work in in the rainforest, near Nueva Italia, Peru. This opportunity was presented to me by my cousin, Brittany Ederer, whom planned and proposed this project to RiverWind Peru and constituents. I will be leaving the U.S. somewhere around May 25th, and returning August 2nd. Together we will be synthesizing plant and wildlife community survey data into GIS maps to identify conservation priorities quickly and efficiently, along with identifying threats. We will also be visiting the local school and communities to help promote conservation of the rainforest, and desire to demonstrate sound environmental practices.
