Bucket List For Jessica

Bucket list for JessicaJessica Cates Reno, NV mother of 6 has received the worst possible news you can get, that she has brain cancer and has 3-9 months to live and that she needs to make arrangements for her children. No mother ever wants to hear that but that’s what her doctor told her on March 10th. In June 2016 Jessica found a lump on her breast that turned out to be HER 2 positive invasive lobular carcinoma and ended up having a double mastectomy in November. She went thru chemo and radiation and lost all her hair, one thing she didn’t lose was her faith in God. Instead she saw it as a lesson to treat her body better, to being a better mom, friend and to build on her faith. When Jessica was 24 she had a rare form of cancer caused by a moler pregnancy at a time when she had a drug addiction. Jessica has been in recovery and celebrated 20 years clean on January 5th of this year an amazing accomplishment. She has been on a journey that has included going back to school and is 4 classes away from earning her Associates degree and was going into Radiology Technology, she was the president of TRAP club at TMCC (Truckee Meadows Recovery and Prevention). Jessica’s children are her world, Trevor 25, Amanda 25, Renee 23, Joshua 18, Madisyn 16 and little angel Annabella 5. Bella was born with 3 holes in her heart and a valve that was not working and spent the first 6 weeks of her life in NICU and at 9 months old had open heart surgery and at 2 almost died of pneumonia. She is a special needs child that is all about love. Jessica tells me that she would not be who she is without every single one of them and it shows in her smile and amazing spirit. And then there’s Griff Turner, Jessica’s fiancé. What an amazing gift from God he has been to her when most men would run for the hills, he has been her rock. They had been together a short time when they learned she had breast cancer. They had planned to marry when she finished school and all of that was on hold until last week when they received the news! Life is not fair sometimes and bad things happen to good people and instead of kicking and screaming and saying poor me, Jessica chooses to hold her head up and face each day as it comes with dignity and grace…just like she always has done. All Jessica wants is to spend what time she has left being married to Griff and to spend as much time possible with her children. This is where you come in. A plan is in the works to make this possible for Jessica and your generous donation will help make this happen. A small ceremony with friends and family and a trip to the coast or Yosemite somewhere they can spend quality time together. We believe in the power of prayer and in no way are we just going to give up, she has in motion already homeopathic alternatives and every prayer is both welcomed and appreciated. Thank you very kindly.
