Hi! I never really do things like this but getting a service dog would greatly impact my health and life, but the expenses are too much for my family to manage.
I spent a few months living on a unit at Bc Children’s Hospital last april-June. I am grateful to have received treatment but there were a few events that were very traumatizing.
I struggle with PTSD, anxiety and depression. Having a psychiatric service dog would help me to ease attacks in public, guide me to quiet spaces, interrupt self injuring behaviours, and all around aid my mental disabilities. A dog would also help give me a sense of companionship and purpose as sometimes it’s hard to get out of bed, and having to take a dog out is proven to help improve mood. My mental state is making it tough to go out in public without incidents, and I often find myself lost as I try to escape crowds. The dog would help me manage crowds. Service dogs have been proven to interrupt subconscious self injuring behaviours which I struggle with. I face triggers when I eat meals and snacks 6 times a day which is where a service dog would greatly help me.
The plan is to purchase a dog from puppy patch labradoodles, then have him or her participate in intense training with Wag the Dog. The cost of a dog from puppy patch labradoodles is $3,000 and the training will be approximately $4,500, on top of veterinary bills.
Unfortunately, the expenses of having a service dog trained and everything is too much for my family. Anything would help, and any contributions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!
