Chad Forte, 39 born and raised in South Lake Tahoe has been battling drug and alcohol addiction for the past 12 years. He is facing the fight of his life as his addiction has spun out of control.
Chad is an avid outdoorsman. Skiing, climbing mountains, mountain biking, and backpacking are his passions. In his younger life he was known to many in the Northern Nevada area as a star athlete at South Tahoe High in both basketball and football.

Soon after high school he moved to Chico, CA to attend college for two years before his girlfriend Sarah suddenly died in his arms at the age of 21. Things emotionally took a turn for the worse. Four years of deep depression ensued before a gradual return to a more normal state of living began around the age of 25.
Fortunately, Chad returned to college at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ where he completed his health sciences degree. While in Flagstaff he met many life long friends.
Chad’s life appeared to be getting better for him before the death of our mother Daphne occurred when he was 28 (2003). What transpired next was another trip into deep depression, this time fueled by prescription pain killers and alcohol.
Despite numerous attempts to kick his addiction in the coming years, things continued to worsen. He checked into rehab in Arizona for treatment in 2008 with the help of his family and girlfriend. Unfortunately it wasn't long after completing the program that he went back to using again.
After many ups and downs over the years here in South Lake Tahoe, he decided to move back to Flagstaff, AZ in the fall of 2014 for a fresh start. Sadly things did not go well. Moving from his support network proved disastrous. After a near fatal episode occurred one night, he ended up in the hospital. Our dad made an immediate flight to Arizona and brought him back to California. Chad immediately entered another rehab program in Sacramento.
After a two month stint in rehab and six additional months living in a transitional living home for addicts, things were really looking up. He moved in with my dad so that he could save some money to get his life back together. Unfortunately another emotional episode sent him spiraling back into the world of addiction.
At 39 years of age, Chad is facing the fight of his life. After a brush with the law and a trip to the ER in the past week, things are looking really bad.
After his last rehab stint and subsequent costs involving detox programs and another transitional living stint my family has run out of money. We have started this gofundme campaign in hopes of raising money for one last shot at a rehab program and to show him how many people care about his well being and happiness.
The money raised from this campaign will be put towards a minimum of two months in rehab, as well as a psychological evaluation and treatment. If by chance we are able to surpass our goal it would afford us the possibility of additional month in rehab or help with his transitional living expenses.
For those who know Chad he is a great person who has a lot to offer this world. Please offer Chad a 'hand up' and donate to his cause. Thank you from the Forte family!
