A friend in need

A friend and former colleague is in trouble financially. She is a hardworking, independent woman who recently had a baby with her partner of many years. In order to care for her family, she quit her job.  Unfortunately, her relationship recently broke up and she is now on her own to care for herself, baby and an older child. As she looks for full time work, she has exhausted her savings and has gotten behind on her bills. She faces eviction and the possibility of moving to a shelter.

I ask you to help her during this crisis. She needs money for back rent, future rent, to buy diapers and to pay bills. She must keep her phone on in order to conduct a job search. Her family needs gas and electricity for cooking and studying.

We all need a safety net. My friend immigrated to this country to find opportunity for herself and her older child. As we grapple with the meaning of the results of this terrible election, help me to show her that we are a nation that looks out for each other. Please give whatever you can - it will change the trajectory of a family in need.
