Hoverboard Ignited & Destroyed Family Home in Fire

Donation protected
Hello my name is Crezelle, I set up this fundraiser because my family’s home caught on fire March 10, 2023, we lost everything and we need help.

Although this has been the most traumatic occurrence of our lives, we Give God all the Glory for His protection in the midst of the fire. My sister, brother, and nephew were all in bed when the fire started, my sister woke up to flames and smoke throughout the house and quickly woke up her son and our brother. She got them out with both only having on their undergarments it was freezing cold outside. She then went back to the burning house to try to rescue our family dog and cat. She was able to rescue our dog, but it was too late for our beloved cat, sadly with so much thick smoke in the house she passed away.

Once the fire department was finally able to put out the fire and go into the room where the fire started, they discovered that the fire was started by a hoverboard battery that exploded and bursts into flames, that was in my 6-year-old daughter and my room. God is so good!!! If my daughter had stayed home with my sister and had not gone to the store with my mom and me, she would have been sleeping in the bed where the hoverboard battery exploded. The fire was so bad, it burned up everything in our room, I know that it’s only God that my daughter is here today. Thank you, Jesus!

My grandmother is the owner of the house, it was passed down to her from her grandparents that lived there for over 70 years. My heart is so heavy just thinking about my granny, she was in the hospital at the time of the fire. She went to the hospital on February 1st to have a lifesaving surgical procedure. And Praise God that her surgery was successful, however, she suffered a stroke during the night. She experienced loss of speech and paralysis on her dominant side.

She was first scheduled to come home a few days after the fire, but the team of doctors decided to continue her rehabilitation at the hospital. We were so thankful because the hoverboard battery could have exploded while she was home, it would have been very detrimental to her, possibly killing her, if she wasn’t able to get out of the house. Again, God is So Good!

We could not bring ourselves to tell my granny that her house which she loved and was very thankful for, had caught on fire and that we were told that the house was a total loss (uninhabitable) and that she doesn’t have a home to come home to. The fire caused so much damage. What the fire didn’t destroy, the water and smoke destroyed the rest. We lost everything!

I, myself had surgery a few days after my granny suffered a stroke. And with all the pain I was in, all I could think about was finding a place that my granny could come home to, and that the rest of my family could be together again. We are a family of seven and we were all in different places. Thank God for our family and friends that gave us a place to live during this very trying time.

My granny has worked so hard to take care of us. She is a widow, so all of her time and energy (even going to work, with having some health challenges) went to help my mom raise us, she was even helping to raise her great-grandchildren. My granny loves the Lord and is a praying woman. You would often find her sitting in the backyard praying and giving thanks to the Lord for His faithfulness and His goodness. She is a Mighty Woman of God.

We could not find a place to live, but it was time for my granny to come home, on March 23rd, to finish her rehab at home, so we had to tell her about the fire and that we didn’t have a home anymore. We were afraid that the news might cause her to have a setback. But being a woman of faith, she said with tears coming down her face “God will provide in Jesus Name!” We all just praised the Lord!

God has been good to us. We are very thankful for all the love, prayers, and support that everyone has given us. When my granny was discharged from the hospital, she wanted to go see her house. She said, “This is where I want to live, I know God is able.”

We were told that the house was a total loss (uninhabitable) because of the age of the house and the damage that was done. But because my granny wanted to live there, we got a contractor to come look at the house. He said that he would have to gut the whole house, but he could make it livable again. Thank you, Jesus!

I love my granny so much and I am so thankful for everything she has done and does for her family. She has a heart of gold. She is willing to help anybody. With a very humble heart, I’m asking you to please donate to help me reach my goal, to help
rebuild my granny’s home, and to help us replace things that were destroyed. I thank you in advance and God bless each of you!
