Leinna is a loving wife and mother of three beautiful children. She was born and raised in New Mexico, and currently lives with her family in Albuquerque. At a very young age, she began to suffer from various illnesses. She would get sick easily and often, and it would take 2 or 3 times longer than normal to recover. She would also become very fatigued, weak, and experience severe pain. After many doctors visits, she was finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. At the time, Fibromyalgia was not well known and many of the doctors that had heard of it did not even believe that it was a real diagnosis. After receiving this diagnosis, Leinna's doctor(s), began prescribing her many different medications, in an attempt to eliminate her symptoms. Through all this she still tried to live a normal childhood life by attending school and playing sports. As she got older, her suffering became progressively worse. She had to drop out of sports and could not even attend school full time. Leinna still managed to graduate 2 years early from high school, and began taking college courses. Soon after, she got married and started having children; even though she was told, by doctors, that she may never have kids due to her condition. Her suffering continued to get worse as the years passed. It got to the point where she could not hold/cuddle with her children due to the pain and other symptoms. The nights were horrible which seemed to make her condition worse due to a lack of deep sleep; waking up every hour and never feeling rested. Recently, her condition has become so bad that she can barely get out of bed some days; she can't drive a vehicle, and as hungry as she gets, she can not eat normally. She has also not been able to attend her kids soccer games, choir recitals, dance performances, and church. Throughout the years, Leinna has seen many different specialists, and they all just said that it was her Fibromyalgia acting up, and they would "throw" random prescriptions at her hoping to solve the problem, some of which she did not take because they either conflicted with the medications she was already taking, or they made her worse. They were prescribing medications to treat the side effects of the other medications. The doctors were just trying to put a bandaid on an "arterial" bleed! Really!? Her primary doctor would send her for the same blood tests over and over again, as if he was hoping that somehow the results would change.
Knowing that something was just not right, Leinna began to research hundreds of different diseases and illnesses, trying to find out what was wrong. She managed to find a couple illnesses that had symptoms very similar to what she was experiencing. One of the conditions required very specific and sensitive testing procedures, which the hospital was unfamiliar with. The other conditions, the hospital either did not know how to test at all or they would just disregard it all together; saying that "... it was just in her head." With the help of some family members, she found a clinic in Arizona that does specialized testing and treatment. Unfortunately, this testing was very expensive and not covered by insurance. Having no other options, Leinna decided to make the trip to Arizona to have the testing done. It seemed like a lifetime before the results came, and when they did, Leinna and her husband were nervous, scared, but relieved to find out what was truly going on. It turns out that Leinna was misdiagnosed with Fibromyalgia, and treated for that misdiagnosis for over 20 years!
The test results revealed that Leinna has Lyme disease, other co-infections associated with Lyme, severely depressed immune system, cardiac issues, and they also found cancer cells in both her breasts. Unfortunately, Presbyterian does not treat Lyme disease, and they do not have a solution for treatment either. However, the clinic that performed the tests also treats these conditions and many of the patients that are treated there, return home feeling a hundred times better. Leinna has been suffering for so long and it has been really tough for her and her family. She has been hoping and praying that she could get back to doing the things in life that many of us take for granted. The clinic began treating her, but quickly sent her home because she was unable to afford the cost of treatment. Since the treatment is not covered by insurance, the cost is all out-of-pocket. A second mortgage was taken out on her home and her husband has been working non-stop doing side work to help raise money for her treatment but it is still not enough.
Between testing and treatment, the cost is over $100,000. Leinna and her family know that raising the total amount needed is far fetched, but every little bit helps, and they will be so greatly appreciative. As soon as some money has been raised, Leinna can return to Arizona to continue treatment. More importantly than money though, the Zamir family needs your prayers. Through God, anything is possible. Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this, and the Zamir family appreciates your help. Once she gets through this tough time in her life, Leinna wants help others in similar situations and do everything she can the make sure they do not have to suffer the way she has.
