Help Shape Williams Life

Andre and I had a wonderful pregnancy, but a very scary, emotional delivery that included an emergency c-section and a diagnosis with an unpredictable future...hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy. Our sons heart rate dropped and when he was taken out by c section wasn't breathing for approximately 8 minutes. He underwent cooling therapy for 3 days and spent an entire month in the NICU. William has been progressing, yet somewhat delayed at this point in time. He is six months old and undergoing several therapies including occupational and physical therapy. We have received recommendations for a helmet to correct the flat spot left from the NICU, which his therapist assure us will not only help cosmetically but improve his overall function and potential, allowing his brain to fully grow and his skull to develop normally. Unfortunately, insurance sees the corrective device only as cosmetic, leaving it to us out of pocket entirely, and as it is, we are spending up to $100 per week on copays for appointments that are necessary for his development and helping him reach his milestones. Our son is the strongest little boy with the biggest fight in him; he deserves everything we can possibly give him. We want the best for him and his future, and with finances tight, we are reaching out for support from others.
