I am creating a go fund me to help alleviate some costs associated due to a lengthy stay in Toronto and to help cover some of the cost of my daughters new eye as well as flights to get her new eye fitted in roughly 6 weeks time. Last week our world came crashing down at a doctors appointment in Thunder Bay, some on going concerns with her right eye created enough alarm for her to be referred to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. We were fortunate enough to get a call the next day and a flight the day after to be seen in Toronto.

After multiple testing and an MRI on her brain and eye, cancer has been ruled out. It is very disheartening to learn that my daughter has a rare disease that went unnoticed in her baby well being checks when I had concern with her wandering eye. Emerson ( my 17 month old daughter) has been diagnosed with Coats Disease in her right eye that has caused her retina to completely detach from her eye over time, causing her to lose her vision completely as well as creating fluid build up and the pressure in her eye to become over double what it should be. The meds and eye drops are not helping, and neither is the IV she is hooked up to. This disease has progressed too far for her eye or vision to be saved. Emerson is scheduled to have her eye enucleation tomorrow morning. This is a surgery to remove her eye with all the damage and disease. Any little bit helps, and if you are not able to I would appreciate if you could at least share my post.
