Please help Wildlife Recovery Association (WRA), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization save the wetland sanctuary that is the base of the organization. The name of the wetland is Little Swamp Sanctuary.
Mike and Molly are shown above on their favorite perches which are in the exact route of where clear cutting a path for the placement of high voltage electric lines with huge towers is planned. These are our resident wild bald eagles whose families have nested here safely for 20 years. If we cannot stop it, a powerful company (ITC/METC) will route their high voltage transmission lines through the wetland sanctuary where this bald eagle family lives. They want to place these huge power lines in the exact path of young eagles, rare, sensitive, and endangered species such as red-shouldered hawks, Whip poor Wills, red-headed woodpeckers, as well as many species of waterfowl, sandhill cranes, swans, pied billed grebes and smaller sensitive species such as Northern Water Thrush and Black-billed Cuckoo.
Research shows that millions (possibly 175 million) birds are killed each year in the US by these high voltage electric lines.
All species of birds are easily killed by these huge lines, but especially when the high voltage lines are placed 1) in the direct flight path of the birds 2) where these birds nest and raise their young, and 3) where there is a high concentration of birds. All three of these situations are exactly the case here at Little Swamp Sanctuary.
In addition, the construction and maintenance of this project will be deadly to an incredible number of frogs, turtles, snakes, and other types of wildlife, many of which are very rare such as blandings turtles.
We have an excellent team of attorneys and other professionals who are working on this to stop the destruction of the wetland. We need your help in funding this team.
