We adopted Angel in 2012 when she was 12 weeks old. She was born a "lethal white" because she was all white, blind and deaf. Many breeders will kill dogs born that way because they have other health issues. We were fortunate enough to be the family the rescue allowed to adopt her, and Angel became my mother's dog. My mother was suffering from Alzheimer's at the time, and Angel became her savior for the next few years. Even though she could not hear, Mom would sing Polish lullabies to her all day. She would sleep on my mom's chest and the love they shared was so profound that the priest wrote a sermon about the two of them, and how God's love shines through in even the humblest of creatures.

 

We almost lost Angel in 2015, when her immune system attacked her platelets - causing her veins to start to bleed out all through her body. She was given less than 5% chance of survival, but because she was my mom's lifeline, and I was able to work then, we spared no expense to keep her alive for my mom. Through the vet's care, many prayers and God's miracle healing, she survived and has been doing well since then.

 

Saturday morning, Oct. 2nd, 2021, we woke up to a scare with Angel hemorrhaging all over my son's bed. We rushed her to the Vet ER at Purdue Northwest and they found that she has a very large stone in her bladder (the size of a small egg). It's too big to pass and it's not going to be able to be dissolved. She's going to need surgery to remove it. That visit - just for the diagnosis and antibiotics and pain meds, cost us $809.00 and drained any extra funds we had. Thankfully, our regular veterinarian believes she's had the stone for awhile now. Plus, it's one big stone - not a bunch of small ones that will obstruct the urethra, so we can put off the surgery for a little bit to save up the money to pay for it. She told us that we can keep her comfortable and keep an eye on her.  We have some time unless she starts to strain to urinate. She had us put her on a diet designed to reduce stones and help her flush small ones, which will be a lifetime change for her, but the vet believes the stone is so big, there's no way it's going to dissolve enough to flush. Surgery is the only way to remove it, but we have a little time yet.

 

Anyone who follows me on FB or Instagram knows that I was injured in the line of duty back in 2016 and was placed on disability. Funds have been very tight for our family ever since then, and we just cannot afford to pay bills plus pay for a costly surgery. The ER Vet visit on the 2nd wiped out our savings.

 

Anyone who knows me knows that I have a very hard time asking for help, and I probably wouldn't even do this for myself, but Angel has been a gift from God, and she's fought to survive for this long. We just can't give up on her and are asking for help in raising money to cover the cost of the surgery, medications, monitoring and observation post-surgery, bloodwork, lab work, etc.  We are grateful for those who have reached out to help already, and are beyond grateful for any assistance you decide to give.  Every bit helps,  and we appreciate your kindness in helping us save our little Angel.
