Help Support Doie Endalew Biru

Doie Endalew was born in Gimbie, Wollega. She is married and has two young children and currently resides in Finfinnee, Ethiopia.

Doie was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. She underwent surgery, chemo, and oral medications for several months. She recently learned that the cancer had returned and spread to other organs. She sought a second opinion at Addis Hiwot General Hospital where they confirmed the spread of the cancer and advised her to start radiation therapy as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the radiation therapy cannot be found in Ethiopia at this moment. Her doctors continue to be optimistic that there are numerous treatment options available including going to neighboring countries, but she is currently going through financial difficulties, hence the option of going to neighboring countries to seek life saving treatment is slim.

For those who have been touched by cancer, you know this type of diagnosis affects more than just the patient. Doie‘s diagnosis has impacted her family, especially her father who already lost three of his kids and his wife and upended normal daily life. There are a lot of out-of-pocket medical and travel expenses associated with her ongoing treatment.

Her kids, family, and friends are raising money to alleviate the additional financial stress she is facing to allow her to focus on her treatment as she is undergoing what is undoubtedly one of the most difficult experiences any one can have.
