Invest in Yeshe's future!

Hey Everyone!

Our names are Matthew & Katy and we need your help raising money for our dear friend Yeshe, our housemate at Walnut St. Co-op in Eugene, Oregon. Yeshe Drolma is a young woman from Tibet studying English at the University of Oregon. She is incredibly dedicated and hard-working, and we want to help her stay for one more term. This has been Yeshe's one and only chance to study English in the U.S. and right now there is a small window of opportunity to extend this incredible experience for her.  Join us in helping our friend to provide a better life for her family in Tibet.

In Yeshe's own words:

"Hi my name is Yeshe! I am from Tibet. I am 24 years old and I came to America to study English at the University of Oregon. In Tibet I have a business, I am a tour guide. I take people to the mountains and show them the beauty of my country, the land, the animals, and the nomadic people. It is really important to me to show travelers Tibetan culture and share with them what a nomadic life is like. As a tour guide I am a translator for travelers from around the world, which is why it is important for me to learn to speak English.

I came here 5 months ago, and I am learning a lot! I love learning to speak new languages. I speak Tibetan, Chinese, and now English. I really like having conversations with people wherever I go. Being able to speak English allows me to have many more conversations. The education I am getting is so important I want to stay here for as long as I can to keep learning. The longer I stay the better I can be at running my business in Tibet.

I almost have enough money to be able to stay for another term, but I need just a little bit more to pay my tuition for one more term. Will you please help me stay until June to finish my English studies?"

If we are successful in raising $2000 for Yeshe, the money will go to pay for her tuition. The more money that we can raise for her, the better- she has incurred a fair amount of debt by traveling here to study English. Any additional funds beyond the first $2000 will go towards paying down Yeshe's debt.

We need to collect the money for Yeshe's next term as quickly as possible, the hard deadline is March 31st

Yeshe is an inspiration to all of us here at the co-op. She comes from incredible poverty and has experienced unbelievable hardship. When she was a child she watched her own mother die while giving birth; she then had to raise her three younger siblings basically on her own. Despite having very little resources, she managed to teach herself how to speak Chinese, and in her early twenties started her own business. Yeshe is one of the most driven and dedicated people you will ever meet. We all love her so much and want to do everything in our power to help her! We would be so grateful if you would join us in supporting this incredible woman.

One of our housemates has committed to match every contribution, dollar for dollar, up to $500. So, once we hit $500, they'll put in $500 and we'll be half way there!

Thank you so much!

P.S. If you don't believe us, take it from Yeshe's professors!
