Urgent rescue! This is Bella. She is a loving, 9 year old lab pug mix in desperate need of help. As you can see she is severely underweight and has gone blind from diabetes. Her condition has been left untreated for far too long as her previous owners were unable to afford her care. My husband and I met her 2 days ago and want to help her. We are committed to giving her a forever home with us and paying for her special diet food and daily insulin routine and caring for her special needs. However, the initial care for Bella to get her stabilized and responding well to her new medications will take a couple days and nights of care at the hospital. We just lost our 5 year old dog Chico tragically a month ago and spent $10 000 trying to save him so we are not in the financial position to pay for Bella's first few days of intensive care. The vets at Ottawa Animal hospital have quoted us $2000 for Bella to be cared for followed by 6 months of biweekly checkups at $250 per appointment. We are trying to raise $6000 for Bella's treatment in total but can admit her as soon as we hit $2000. Time is critical as without insulin, even though she is eating her body is starving. The vets have advised us that if we are unable to fund treatment the next most human decision is to put her down.
