Hope for Ellie

Kareena is the director and heart and soul of Feed the Furbabies Canada. She has dedicated her life to improving the lives of animals across Manitoba by supporting rescues and isolated communities with critical resources like food and vet care. But this time, Kareena needs our help.

Kareena’s dog Ellie has been hospitalized while her wonderful vets try to figure out what is going on with her. She has been to two clinics and has now been admitted trying to find out why she can’t eat and has been vomiting for days. Kareena has already spent $1,000 in vetting prior to today’s hospitalization. Her current estimate high end is another $2,900 for further diagnostics and hospitalization. This does not include any treatment costs or potential surgeries.

Donations are greatly appreciated for Ellie’s care to support her through this challenging time. Kareena has given her life to rescue and now she needs the rescue community to help hold her up.

Ellie was rescued by Kareena in 2015. We had gone out to pick up a couple of stray dogs from a remote community and came back with over a dozen. Ellie, named Seven at the time, was the most challenging to place. Ellie is a quirky girl with a big loving heart, but only once she trusts you. A foster and rescue were eventually found for Ellie but unfortunately after a few days the foster had to give Ellie back as she wasn’t able to meet her needs. A second foster was found, but unfortunately they couldn’t help her either. Ellie went back to Kareena’s house while we tried to find a new placement. But Ellie knew something we didn’t; she was already home. Kareena kept Ellie and has been loving her ever since.
