Ella Everhart's Burial - Trisomy 18
Donation protected
In the summer of 2016, while 35 weeks pregnant, the Everhart’s received devastating news that the baby they were expecting had Trisomy 18. Also known as Edwards Syndrome, it is a genetic condition caused by an extra chromosome 18, resulting in a wide variety of life-threatening and disabling birth defects including neurological issues, congenital heart defects, respiratory and feeding problems, and anatomical abnormalities. This news was tough to bear as not many of these babies make it to term and those that do have a very short life expectancy, and it occurs in 1 out of every 2500 pregnancies in the United States.
Ella was born on December 27th and passed away in her mother’s arms on Sunday, February 19th, 2017 at 7 weeks of age. Despite her heart defects, Ella was fearfully and wonderfully made. She fought hard to sustain life with her parents, Jason and Kim, and her two siblings, Adriana 7 and Charles 4, who loved her with all of their hearts. Ella's strength and courage are unparalleled and she left her imprint on many lives. She now rests with Jesus, awaiting the day she will be reunited with her family.
