On June 26th, 5 days into her third trimester, Lyndsey knew something didn't feel right in her body. After checking her own blood pressure, she contacted her doctor who requested Lyndsey come into the hospital immediately. After their arrival, the doctor informed the couple that Lyndsey has HELLP Syndrome; a life-threatening complication that occurs in the later stages of pregnancy and are characterized by hemolysis (rupturing blood cells), elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet counts. The doctors took her in for an immediate Caesarean section, and Savannah Rose Reece came into the world at 1 pound 11 ounces, and 12 inches long.
To date Savannah's body is taking to the medication and she is staying at the NICU in an incubator as she continues to grow and develop. They are anticipating that Savannah will be staying in the NICU until her original due date in September. Mom and Dad will be making daily visits to spend time with their little girl. Lyndsey is slowly recovering and will be staying in the hospital through the weekend.
Since little Savannah will be in the hopsital for up to three months, it is likely her health insurance will not be able to cover all the costs incurred from her stay. At this time Eric and Lyndsey would be so appreciative and thankful for any financial donations that you can provide to help cover these medical costs and bring their little girl home.
