After several visits to Urgent Care to treat the infected area, and with symptoms persisting, Zach was admitted to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

Within weeks from starting his senior year as a Business major at Emporia State University, the news on July 9th, would change these plans.
Zach and his family were informed that the blood test revealed Leukemia. With further testing, it was concluded that it was some sort of Myeloproliferative Disorder, they administered medication and released him, hopeful he would begin to feel better. However, after a few days at home, he continued to feel worse.
He and his family pursued care at KU Medical Center, where he was admitted for a stay of 3 weeks. Following a battery of tests and biopsies, a diagnosis was given of Chronic Esoinophilic Leukemia. Due to the rarity of this type of diagnosis, Doctors and Specialists all over the Nation are assisting in his care and treatment.
A treatment plan has been established to begin chemotherapy on Wednesday, August 29, followed by a Stem Cell Transplant on Thursday, September 6.
As long as things go as anticipated and he responds well, he will be hospitalized for approximately 3 weeks. Upon being released from the hospital, Zach will then complete his treatment plan for 100 days at Hope Lodge in Kansas City while his body heals. There are strict rules in place for his healing period, such as home cooked meals and full time attended care with someone present at all times.
The Payne family has been driving from Overbrook to Kansas City on a daily basis to provide Zach the care and support he needs during the preparatory appointments required for this life saving transplant. Zach's parents, Jeff and Sheila are both employed by great school districts which have allowed them time off to be with Zach during his treatment and healing period.
Due to prior hospital stays, daily appointments at KU Med, and travel between home and hospital, financial burdens have already incurred.
It is my hope and prayer to help alleviate some of their needs by establishing a fund to provide Zach and his family support during the coming months.
If you would like to assist them, it is greatly appreciated. If you are not able to contribute, your prayers are coveted, because we are praying for a miracle and this guy is a fighter.
