Tuesday update:
Joe was supposed to have surgery today, but it’s been rescheduled for Thursday since the full surgical team wasn’t available. It’s never easy to wait, but we’re staying hopeful and trusting that the extra time will set him up for the best outcome.
Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he prepares for Thursday. Your support and encouragement mean so much.
Sunday update on Joe:
Joe has been back in the hospital since Thursday, and surgery is still expected to take place on Tuesday. This will be a major surgery, and while the doctors remain hopeful, Joe is not out of the woods yet. They are working hard to make this next step successful.
As you can imagine, this has been exhausting and overwhelming for him. Your continued thoughts, prayers, and support mean everything. Joe and I can’t thank you enough for every donation, share, and kind word — it truly helps carry him through this difficult time. ❤️ some of you have reached out and wanted to donate but not using the GoFundMe if you would like to donate another way please message me. I can give you his address or other options to donate. Thank you all again for helping Joe while he gets through this.
Thursday Evening Update on Joe
Unfortunately, the pain became too much for Joe to manage at home, so he has been re-admitted to the hospital today. As of now, surgery is still scheduled for Tuesday.
As you can imagine, he’s feeling a little down and defeated right now. If anyone would like to send him a card, note, or anything to help brighten his day, please message me for his address. Every bit of encouragement means so much to him during this difficult time. ❤️
WEDNESDAY UPDATE on Joe;
Joe is now home and resting after the last procedure. He will be going back to the hospital on Monday for a major surgery scheduled Tuesday. The doctors decided to give him a few days at home to recover mentally and physically before this next critical step.
This upcoming surgery is expected to be intense, with a longer recovery time, meaning Joe will be out of work even longer. The financial strain is becoming overwhelming, and any help right now would truly make a difference.
If you’d like to send Joe a card, gift, or direct donation, please message me for his mailing address. Every bit of support — whether financial, emotional, or by sharing this update — means the world to him. ❤️
Tuesday afternoon update:
Joe is now scheduled for a major surgery next Tuesday. The doctors believe it’s best to send him home for about five days beforehand to give him a much-needed mental break before what will be a long and challenging recovery.
This next procedure is serious and will require more recovery time, meaning even more time out of work. The financial strain on top of everything else has been overwhelming.
If you are able, any donation — no matter the amount — will make a difference in helping cover medical expenses and daily needs while Joe focuses on healing. Your kindness, prayers, and shares mean the world to us. ❤️
Monday afternoon update:
Joe had his surgery this morning. Unfortunately, it didn’t go as we had hoped . The surgeons were able to locate the blockage but could not place a stent because there were no veins available for it to fit in. They also couldn’t clear the blockage.
The team of vascular surgeons will be meeting to discuss the next steps. This is not the outcome we had hoped for, but we’re staying strong and hopeful for a path forward.
We want to sincerely thank everyone who has donated, shared, and prayed for Joe. Your support means more than words can say. ❤️
Sunday update :
Surgery is still scheduled for tomorrow. We’re just waiting for the doctor to come in and confirm the exact time. After surgery and some recovery time in the hospital, he’ll be heading to rehab for 2–3 weeks.
Living on a very limited income from Social Security and now unable to work for at least a month, things are getting very tough. If you’re able to donate anything at all, it would mean the world to us and help more than you know.
Thank you for your love, prayers, and support. Original post below!
Friday afternoon update on Joe...
Joe is scheduled for a major surgery this coming Monday. Right now, he has no blood flow to his leg, and this surgery is their best chance to restore it. The doctors are concerned about the severity of his condition, especially with the strain the surgery may put on his heart.
They’ll be working to not only get circulation back to his leg, but also to help him regain feeling in his feet and the ability to walk again. Because of how serious this is, he’ll likely be in the hospital for a while. If the surgery isn’t successful in restoring blood flow, there is a real risk of amputation.
Please keep Joe in your thoughts and prayers as he faces this critical and difficult road ahead. ❤️
Original story below:
Hi, my name is Jody Conrey and I’m raising funds for my dear friend and loyal employee, Joe Smith.
Joe was taken to the hospital yesterday afternoon by ambulance and has since been transferred and admitted to Daytona to see a vascular surgeon.
He will most likely need surgery on his leg and will be unable to work during recovery which is a major financial hardship for him.
He shared this update last night :
“They’re admitting me and transferring me to Daytona where they have a vascular surgeon. I’m pretty sure I need a stent in my leg. I still can’t move it, and I feel nothing when they touch my left foot. They gave me some pain medicine that’s working, but I still can’t move it. I’m good for the night and will keep you all updated.”
At 70 years old, Joe still works harder than people half his age. He juggles three jobs — driving Uber, working at our shop Fusion 420, and bussing tables on other days. He never complains, never asks for help, and will do anything for anyone.
Unfortunately, missing even a few days of work is a huge financial blow for him. He lives day-to-day, the lost wages are going to be an even tougher road ahead. He needs our support so he can recover without the financial stress.
I’m asking for your help to take some of the burden off Joe’s shoulders so he can focus on getting well. Every little bit counts — whether it’s a donation or sharing this page with others.
Let’s come together to show Joe the same kindness, generosity, and hard work he’s shown all of us over the years.
❤️ Please donate or share this page to help us reach our goal.
