Help support Craig Carlson

Back in 2009 I received a call from Craig Carlson that changed the direction of our lives.  Craig was calling from a payphone at a corner store near our home, he was confused and disoriented.  He had awoken wandering half clothed in a grocery store parking lot holding a lottery ticket, no it wasn't a winner!  Craig had no idea how he had gotten out of our home and he couldn't figure out how to use his cell phone when he returned to our house.  He wandered to the payphone across the street and called me.  I rushed home from our business as fast as I could.

Craig had been having strange things going on that we were unable to figure out for months.  He was having "fainting" spells that no one ever saw.  He passed out at a gas station and "no one ever saw" it. He woke up from naps he didn't know he had laid down for and he was having unnerving feelings of deja vu.

Craig had been on 6th Ave for hours the day he wandered out of our home after a seizure and no one tried to help him.  He was covered in blood from biting his tongue nearly off, wearing long underwear pants and socks.  Craig wandered for more than an hour in front of two major grocery stores, he was even seen admiring flowers outside the Safeway.  Yet no one helped.

Today Craig and I have to ask for help.  It wasn't just Craig who developed Epilepsy as an adult it was "US".  Since the day Craig and I met almost 12 years ago we have both been passionate about helping animals and others.  We opened a natural holistic pet shop in 2005 and tried to hang on after 2008 and the onset of Craig's disease.  We finally faced the fact in 2013 that Craig's disease was not going to be controlled by medication/surgery wasn't an option and closing our store was best for our health.

Craig and I have spent almost everyday 24 hours a day together for a decade and we wouldn't have it any other way.  Craig has supported my pit bull rescuing by helping me place hundreds of dogs in homes over the years, but it has become impossible for us to continue doing this when we can't afford the care our own dogs need.

There are so many things that I love about Craig but one of my favorites is his Facebook post that he makes every day.  They are always about how much he loves people and he makes a lot of people smile.  However today's post simply said "tough times" as he doesn't want to burden anyone with our problems.  I felt inspired to finally ask for help!

Currently our 2001 Montero is need of about $2000 in repairs and tires and it isn't running at all.  I finally got approval for just 50 hours a month to care for Craig (from the state) and now I can't get to the classes tomorrow.  Without the classes we don't get the extra money every month that will help us get by.  Our dogs are all in need of vet care and we were hoping the extra income would help us get that done.

For the first time since 2009 there is a small glimmer of hope that Craig may be able to have brain surgery.  After a meeting with the head epilepsy doctor at Harborview we have a little bit of hope.  We will be going for a "super scan" this Friday at Harborview and I am hoping you can help make sure we get there!
Much Love!  Wendy and Craig

Any additional funds are going straight to our fur kids; Abbey (11) and the very first pitbull legally adopted from the Pierce County shelter after a two decades of euthanize only for the breed.  She desperately needs some blood work done.  Bruno, our 11 year old chi/ doxi mix with a million allergies needs blood work and a visit.  Peanut, our 9 year old Italian Greyhound rescue has a thyroid disease and needs meds, blood work and a dental.  Sweet Pea our 10 year old is in need of blood work and a dental.
