Hi, my name is Patti and Sugar is my beautiful grand-dog. After years of chronic ear issues/infections that haven’t responded to any of the less invasive treatments we’ve tried, her veterinarian and a specialist are recommending TECA (Total Ear Canal Ablation) for her. The operation involves the removal of the entire ear canal. TECA will leave Sugar mostly deaf, but she’s had such a chronic condition that she already has profound hearing loss but is very uncomfortable due to itching and swelling of her inner ear. TECA will fix this and she’ll have a much better day to day quality of life. It was recommended that we do it soon due to Sugar’s age. She’s 6 now and as she gets older, the risk of anesthesia complications increase. When we were first weighing the decision, we’d read that the procedure was $6000-$6500 and we were figuring it out financially. But after meeting the specialist, we learned that that figure is for one ear only and Sugar needs both done. So we’re looking at $12,000+ for this. So here we are, hoping to raise some money to cover the unexpected cost of the double procedure. Our family would deeply appreciate any assistance you can provide to help us out.
