UPDATE: SUCCESS!
Thanks to everyone who helped out, a car was secured! Thank you so much!
I have a new neighbor who escaped Ukraine with his wife and two children, aged 12 and 5. They are a wonderful family starting their lives over in the U.S. With the help of a sponsor family, they are setting up a home of their own. Many people have helped to get them settled in their new apartment. Things are starting to look up for them after nearly two years of uncertainty.
Neither mom nor dad have ever driven, so as part of their starting over, I've been giving one hour driving lessons each night during the week. Today, they get around by bike, which is ok for now, but when winter comes along, not a great option at all. Mom did get a job at a grocery, while dad continues to look for employment. He's sent 70 resumes out so far with no hits.
One of their near-term goals is a used car to both get around in and earn money by signing up with delivery services. Their budget, however, causes me to worry about what they can afford, and if what they can afford will be safe, reliable transport, especially with the goal of using the car for earning through delivery.
I'm prepared to help them by matching their budget dollar for dollar. I'm reaching out in the hopes that through family and friends, the budget will increase so that the ultimate purchase will be a car they can rely on to get them around and earning the extra money they need to start over.
Thank you, in advance, for considering this request and helping where you can. I'm grateful.
