Help Bring Luna Home ✈️❤️

Hi everyone, my name is Gretchel, and I’m raising funds to bring a very special rescue pup named Luna home to the United States.

Everything started while I was on vacation in the Dominican Republic with family and friends. We had been there for a few days, and during a beach photo shoot, this tiny, malnourished puppy suddenly appeared out of nowhere. The moment we saw her, we all fell in love. You could see the sadness in her eyes — she looked tired, hungry, and alone. We knew right then that we couldn’t just walk away.

Since I’m originally from the Dominican Republic, I immediately began making calls to contacts I knew who could help. We didn’t have much time — our flight back to the U.S. was the very next morning — but we were determined to do something. No one at the Airbnb or nearby had seen her before, so we arranged for Luna to be picked up from our Airbnb and taken straight to a vet for care.

At the clinic, Luna was evaluated, tested, and given fluids. She was diagnosed with ehrlichia, a tick-borne infection, and began a 30-day course of antibiotics. Once she recovered, she was finally healthy enough to receive her vaccinations and move into a safe shelter.

One of my contacts in the Dominican Republic connected me with Jonelyn, a true animal lover and amazing human being, who stepped in to help guide the process and has even volunteered to travel with Luna to the U.S. to ensure she arrives safely. Her kindness and dedication have been a huge part of making this rescue possible.

Over the past few months, Luna has continued to grow stronger and healthier thanks to the incredible volunteers who have cared for her. We’ve gathered all the necessary documents for her to travel to the U.S., but we need help covering the final costs — including food( since may) transportation, vet expenses, and boarding fees.

Luna has been staying at a “pet hotel” since May, where she’s been receiving regular vet check-ups and lots of love from the volunteers who have looked after her so faithfully.

The best part of Luna’s story? She already has a forever home waiting for her in the U.S. — my dear friend Alex has opened his heart to adopt her and give her the life she’s always deserved. With your help, we can finally make that dream come true.

All additional funds beyond her travel costs will be donated to the amazing volunteers in the Dominican Republic — including some amazing people Jonelyn helps in a daily basis — so they can continue rescuing and caring for other dogs in need.
