On Saturday November 12, 2016 my mother, Jennifer, was involved in a freak accident. She had started a controlled fire in my yard in order to burn some scrap wood and brush we hadn't had the opportunity to dispose of. She slipped and fell into the fire and was all alone outside with no one to help her get out of the flames. She some how managed to bring herself out of the fire and made it to my house where my 15 year old nephew, my mother's grandson, had to help extinguish the fire that was on her. She was air lifted to SAMMC where the amazing doctors and nurses there fought tooth and nail to keep my mom alive, and they did. Unfortunately during her time in ICU over the holidays, she had to have both of her arms amputated as well as a good portion of the right side of her abdomen and one of her eardrums blew out. She has never been in better spirits and I've never seen her with a more positive attitude than now. She's so grateful to be alive and happy to have my nephew and me in her life still, and the both of us feel the exact same way. She's such an amazing human and I want nothing more than for her to be able to gain some of her independence back. Between various medical expenses her insurance won't cover, prosthetics and hearing aids, air life as well as any home Modifications we will need to make for her to get around more easily, it's just not in our budget. I've never been one to ask for help this way but I know many have offered and want to help in whatever way possible. So wether you are able to donate or just spread our story around, my mother and I greatly appreciate each and every one of you and your efforts.
