                                    Tommy's Tomorrow
On August 13, 2015, Thomas P. Allegrucci, the son of Gary and Emily Tedesco-Allegrucci, was born with an extremely rare genetic condition called Peters Anomaly. Peters Anomaly is a type of anterior segment dysgenesis, which is the failure of normal development of the tissues of the anterior segment of the eye.  Peters Anomaly is a specific type of mesenchymal anterior segment dysgenesis, causes clouding of the cornea, adhesions of the iris and cornea, and abnormalities of the posterior structures of the eye, which can lead to vision impairment or the complete loss of vision.  Tommy was also born with congenital bilateral glaucoma, congenital bilateral cataracts, and bilateral sclerocornea.  Tommy has an extremely advanced form of Peters Anomaly with a poor prognosis for vision.  He is currently being treated at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia by a pediatric ophthalmologist and ocular geneticist and a corneal specialist.
Tommy is the grandson of J. Michael and Roseann F. Tedesco and Gary and Denise Allegrucci.  He has two older brothers, Joey (7) and Charlie (5), and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Tommy's condition and diagnosis came as a complete shock to Emily and Gary.  They have vowed that they will do everything in their power to try and get their son some vision.  Knowing it would be impossible for both parents to continue working Emily resigned from her position.  Tommy requires weekly visits to Wills Eye Hospital, which is approximately 2 hours drive from the Allegrucci home, and he has had several procedures done including exams under anesthesia, laser treatment, bilateral cryo ablation surgery, and a left eye cornea transplant.
As you may have guessed, along with being physically and emotionally draining, this condition is also causing this young family to be financially challenged.  So there are two things we are asking for: first and foremost we are asking for your prayers.  Second we would like to ask you to make a donation to the Tommy's Tomorrow fund.  The Allegrucci's have a long road ahead of them with many surgeries and additional transplants, many adaptations to their home, lots of traveling and lodging costs to incur and many future battles to be fought.
Thank you for you prayers and generous contributions.  Please pass this on to anyone you believe would be willing to help this young family.  God bless you!
