Hi my name is Diann Miller I have SLE I was in the hospital for two months I went because I was super swollen and in pain so bad the doctors and nurses kept asking was I having an allergic reaction to something I responded no I woke up swollen and face was in a lot of pain my entire.body I couldn't move they admitted me they quickly started on IV lasix Benadryl and Iv steroids to bring down the swelling and something for pain because tendonitis so because I was getting all these major medications I lost my iv so they couldn't get another live so I was having episodes big lupus attacks so 1 night I had an episode they called rapid response to come and start another ultrasound guided IV the lady was looking for the vein because none of the nurses could get 1 on me she look right at the vein that was sitting right next to an artery I told her to go higher she says this is the best 1 I told her it wasn't she says I know what I'm doing I told her I know my arm that's a bad spot to go higher she goes there anyway so she threaded it through right away it was blood everywhere and wouldn't even thread through the nurses had all already had been trying all night to get a line on me she goes in my shoulder it was bleeding a lot the next morning I couldn't move my arm or fingers so I'm in pain they bring IV meds push In the medication IV wouldn't stop bleeding I told them to call my doctor because he is a vascular surgeon he ordered an ultrasound to find out why he immediately said I need a CT scan so I had to be rushed into surgery to remove what he found was a huge hematoma I still couldn't move the arm the entire hospital system went down I needed an MRI and a CT scan to see did we miss anything but the system went down and it took almost another week before we got the other test so he ordered a bedside ultrasound it wasn't clear enough so another afternoon doctor told me that there was another hematoma pressing against my nerve of my shoulder so he went in to surgery for second time through my arm put to get to the second hematoma I had lost full function to my arm couldn't lift my arms or raise my hand or feed myself doctor said I had complete nerve damage and that it was going to be a long recovery it's been 6 months since I've been home 8 months since the last surgery I still don't have full function to the arm and no feeling in my right pinky and I still have no full extension to to bending my elbow at 50 percent mobility and I also found that they missed that I had pulmonary embolism because of a ct scan with contrast not being done at 1 of the other hospitals that could have been avoided with a test they didn't want to causing me shortness of breath it could've killed me I understand things go wrong but this kind of neglect no 1 should have to deal with and all my pain and suffering has not ended because someone negligence and careless act has altered my entire life and I can't live my life can't get back my full independence and I had a full investigation and they found that their was no wrong doing they just swept in under the rug like was nothing someone is gonna pay for all the pain that has been caused I already had a hard just growing up my entire life I on and out of the hospital I can't have blood pressures labs grawn or acupuncture done on neither of my arms now i have to use a port for the rest of my life again my name is diann Marie miller and I will be heard thank u all who's listening and having understand and compassion for me thanks.
