Faiths Life Story
For nearly a decade, Faith Hoskins has been bravely fighting aggressive cancer.

Faith’s life journey has been one that has been needlessly complicated by doctor-error. In 2007, while Faith was pregnant with her daughter, a routine PAP smear indicated issues, but the doctor negligently and intentionally withheld this information from her. It was almost one year later and a repeat test was performed, that the same doctors office carelessly misplaced these results. It took 14 months after the initial tests, while taking care of a young son and a new baby, Faith was finally contacted and told about the abnormalities. By this time it had turned into stage 1 cervical cancer. She endured surgery that year on the advice of the Oncology Team and religiously attended every appointment and test for the following five years. She was repeatedly told she was cancer free, but on the last day of follow up in June of 2013, Faith received devastating news. A lump was discovered and Faith was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer which had spread throughout her abdomen and right lung.

Still fighting
Since her second diagnosis Faith underwent another life saving operation. During this time she suffered from several life threatening pulmonary embolisms as a result of the necessary procedures. After her release from hospital she then endured months of healing before deciding on her life-saving treatment.

There is a second choice
Disillusioned with the public healthcare system, which had let her down, and knowing that her survival rate was very low, Faith decided her best chance of life was to receive individualized chemotherapy treatment at Medicor Cancer Centres. All of these treatments are not covered by OHIP. She has undergone nearly every treatment they have available including SEF chemotherapy. Faith credits Medicor with saving her given her prognosis.

In 2015, Faith underwent another major abdominal surgery for a life-threatening ventral hernia which was also not covered by OHIP. This was the result of the previous operations that Faith needed to have in order to fight her aggressive cancer.

In 2017 Faith was rediagnosed and is currently receiving chemotherapy at Medicor. To date over the years Faith has received 26 rounds of chemotherapy and counting.

Cancer is very expensive
Worrying about finances has put great stress on Faith as she continues to fight, and we, her friends, hope to raise enough money to take this stress away so she can focus on her family and getting well. Over the years, however, Faith’s family has spent nearly $200,000 for this private treatment. In order to continue to fight this horrible disease, Faith must attend on-going weekly treatments at a cost of $1500.00.

A loving mother
Faith is a devoted and loving mother of three children. Her 15 year old son, Evan, volunteers at the recreation centre; her 9 year old daughter, Bronwyn, loves baseball. In May, Faith’s eldest son Frankie is getting married. Faith would likely not be here today to see her beautiful children, and without these continued treatments, Faith fears she will not be there in the future to watch her family as it grows.

What you can do
Faith’s dream is to continue to be there for her children, for her son’s wedding, and someday, hopefully, to spoil her future grandchildren. She is a cancer warrior ! Please consider donating whatever you can to this wonderful woman, who not only deserves a chance, but also deserves our support.
