3D Printing PPE for Healthcare and Essential
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Matt Espinoza and for the last 3 weeks I have been 3D printing face shield frames, surgical mask ear protectors, and other PPE for healthcare workers, police/fire, grocery story workers and others that are on the front lines fighting COVID-19 as well as those exposed to it as essential workers.
The national shortage of all types of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) has caused so many to be unnecessarily exposed simply by going to work each day be it at a hospital or at a drive through fast food restaurant.
This effort started as a way to help a cause that began here in CT by Ben Danker who started the "CT 3D Print Army" and has done a tremendous job bringing together those with 3D printers, and experience in fabrication. The face shield frames I produce go to his group who assembles, sanitizes and delivers them all over CT.

To date, I've produced 90 face shield frames and 100 surgical mask ear protectors with my own 3D printer and filament stock I had laying around. I'm printing ~17 hours a day and make weekly drop offs of the face shield frames and have begun mailbox drops for ear protectors as well as shipping them all over the united states to healthcare workers.

Since getting involved and sharing the work that i'm doing, I've been contacted by friends, family and colleagues about people they know personally that are in dire need of things like ear protectors. I've also been introduced to sewing groups who are sewing surgical masks to deliver to hospitals, nursing homes and others who need ear protectors as well.
With my own equipment and resources, I've been able to produce between 5-8 face shield frames per day and utilize the scrap ends of filament spools for ear protectors in between printing the shield frames. Unfortunately with only a single printer it's either one or the other to keep up with demand.
With your help, I can purchase two additional printers to not only increase production of face shield frames, but also be able to dedicate printers to the tidal wave of ear protector requests. Additionally, I can purchase shipping supplies (padded envelopes, ziplock bags and labels) and cleaning supplies to ensure initial sanitation prior to shipping.
All donated funds will be used to purchase additional printers, filament, cleaning supplies, shipping supplies and postage to ship nationwide.
