3D Printing PPE for Healthcare & 1st Responders

PVNet Wants to Donate 3-D Printed Face Shields to Healthcare Workers & First Responders!

We know there’s been a shortage of protective gear for healthcare workers and first responders...

But we can do something about it by helping Ted at PVNet.

When I read Ted’s post on NextDoor about how PVNet, a local SoCal education non-profit, was 3D printing 24 hours a day, to donate protective face shields to healthcare workers & first responders, I was amazed and felt I had to do more.

My family donated materials to them by Amazon & are sending in what we can, but I just... know it’s not enough. And they need help. So, I’m writing to all of you. I hope those of us who can chip in, will chip in.

PVNET
PVNet is a long-time SoCal South Bay-based STEM-focused non-profit (25 years!), helping to bring the PV city websites online in 1996. Over the years, they’ve acted as a resource for local kids interested in engineering, robotics, and more. But as this pandemic grew, and in-person classes shutdown, this VOLUNTEER group decided to take it upon themselves——and buy up as many 3D printers as they could—-to start to make face shields, around the clock! Time is of the essence ⏳

CURRENT PRODUCTION:
~200 sets of medical face shields per week

CURRENT NEED:
- Over 2000 and counting face shield requests from first responders & medical personnel across the Greater LA area

 GOALS:
- Increase to 1000-1500 face shields/week!
- Fundraiser to buy right supplies & equipment
- Possible development of other PPE
- Find ~3 Dedicated Volunteers with a lot of heart, putting together face shields (on site only) or picking up supplies

WANT TO HELP?
The best way to help is to make a donation—With a donation, they can get the exact materials needed to maintain a good quality of face shield.

WHY DONATE?

Every ~$10 pays for 1 person in healthcare / public safety to have a RELIABLE PVNet face shield.

- The non-profit’s volunteers have personally put in $18,000+ on 3D printers, on credit, $30,000+ total in the entire project. They need more to keep this going until healthcare workers & first responders are protected.

- Healthcare workers & first responders just go to https://www.pvnet.com/3d-printed-face-shields send their info & come over to pick up the face shields. At no cost. That’s it.  A phlebotomist, recently left incredibly moved, with tears in her eyes ^^

PERSONAL TAKE: I don’t know how they’re going to pay for it - without support from the community - I just know... We need to help Ted at PVNet & all the healthcare workers & first responders who are working hard for us.  Each healthcare worker & first responder is vital, not just ‘cause they’re heroes, but because they’re human. Saving them means saving all of us.
