3D Printer & Materials for PPE
Hi Everyone
My name is Evan Yan and I am an Architect based out of NYC and like many others, when the pandemic hit, I wanted to help. Facing shortages of PPE, the 3d Printing Community quickly called upon those with printers to start making PPE. Luckily our NYC office had one. Living out on Long Island, I drove out to our office on one of the most bizarre drives of my life. What usually took 50 minutes to over an hour from LI to NYC took only 30 minutes. The drive was post-apocalyptic with only a few trucks on the highway and every highway traffic sign displaying the words 'Stay Home - Save Lives'. As I entered the city, the streets were desolate with only NYPD sectioning off parts of the streets near hospitals. What would usually be a time of hustle and bustle was gone - it felt dangerous to even step outside of my truck. It was then I truly realized how important it was that we do whatever we can to get our way of life back to the way it was and save the lives of those affected and protect those on the front lines.
With the help of my company EDI International and PVE, we have been 3D Printing various PPE (primarily Face Shields but Door Openers, etc. as well). We started with all the supplies we had on hand and quickly ran out. Since then, we have been self funding this mission thus far.
Initially, we have been donating to various local donation sites but as their needs changed, we shifted our focus to our local community as they were being overlooked. I posted on a local neighborhood page and within a few hours, had huge leads to various facilities and businesses in need of help - from the hardest hit Senior Care Facilities to Grocery Stores - they had no PPE and their nurses, clerks, etc. were getting sick.
Since we started we have created over 150+ Face Shields and about 75 'no-touch' door openers. However, our current printers can only print 4 face shields every 2 hours - something that does not meet the growing demand.
Resources are expensive and limited so we hope you would be interested in helping donate to either get us more material or put money towards another printer to increase our output.
If there is money not used will be donating it to those in need!
We have currently donated to:
-Rising Tide Natural Foods Market, Glen Cove, NY
-Cornucopia Market, Sayville, NY
-Sunflower Market, Woodstock, NY
-Cove Animal Rescue, Glen Cove, NY
-Green Forest Vet., Glen Cove, NY
-Oyster Bay Manor Senior Campus, Oyster Bay, NY
-Lake Success Dental, Lake Success, NY

We have many others on the wait list which include other Senior Care Facilities, Rehabilitation Centers and other Food Service/Medical Services and hope to fulfill those needs soon.
Your donation is greatly appreciated in these difficult times!
