This wonderful, amazing, incredibly smart, sweet 2 year old boy is in remission from B-cell ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). He was diagnosed Dec 14, 2022, and entered into remission Jan 13. On Feb 9, 2023, the doctors at Seattle Children’s Hospital discovered he has an infection called Mycobacteroid Chelonae that had caused an abscess underneath his port, which was then removed on the 10th. He has been admitted to the hospital 3 separate times in February alone, due to this infection. He just had a new port placed Feb 21. The antibiotics have caused 2 separate reactions, and because of all of the hospitalizations, both my husband Sky and myself have had to miss work. We applied for FMLA back in December when he was first diagnosed, but we are coming to the end of our 12 weeks, and we aren’t able to get an extension (the program won’t allow any extra time). We are currently on the last couple weeks of our leave, and then we have nothing if and when he’s hospitalized again. We really didn’t want to create a GoFundMe to ask for anything, but it’s become clear that we need help with paying bills, especially rent. Hayden will be on antibiotics for the infection for minimum of 3 months, and chemotherapy for 2.5 years. This is going to be a long process getting him back to 100%. Anything would help. Thank you for reading this.
