My family's cat, Cloud, is in critical condition and needs your help!
About a week ago my dad and I noticed some behavioural changes in Cloud. Then 2 nights ago my family’s bestfriend suddenly fell ill. Cloud was having trouble breathing so I immediately brought him into emergency at a nearby clinic that has been incredible, but were on the pricier side. They helped me transfer him over to a more affordable clinic but to get him the most specialized care, and to be closest to him, I’m hoping to transfer him back. I should have kept him there but this entire situation unfolded so fast I didn’t have time to think how awful this could turn. I had a split decision to just bring him back to my first choice, but I was really concerned for his health and didn’t want to waste any more time. I'm really hoping to transfer him back. Being put in situations like this has been incredibly stressful and I am terrified of making more mistakes.
Cloud is in critical condition. He has a build up of fluid in his chest and we almost lost him last night. This was the first time I saw my dad cry. The vet tapped his chest, and drained 50mL of fluid and also aided him with IV antibiotics.
We’re waiting on test results to see what exactly is causing him pain. If he survives, there most likely will be chronic health conditions. The vet bill is currently at almost $3000, and transferring him back under specialized care for a night may be another $3000-$4000. From there it goes up for continued overnight stays in ICU, treatment, visits, medication, and an estimate of $8000-$10,000 (depending on which surgery), not including aftercare.
I was just about to get him pet insurance and this happened. It’s my fault that I didn’t act fast enough and now there’s no chance. Pet insurance cannot cover pre-existing conditions.
He is in an oxygen tank with a little yellow cast for IV. He’s breathing since tapping his chest and removing fluid, but it’s slowly building up again. He has a high fever and suspected very high infection.
The main vet is waiting for his cytology, a test to see what the cells are in Clouds chest fluid. From the fluid and symptoms, he’s guessing that it’s Chylothorax/Pyothorax.
I have been up all night researching. This is what the vet thinks it is but we can’t rule out other causes just yet. More tests will have to be done including an ultrasound and checking the heart to see if there are any masses/tumours, blockages.
My entire family is worried about Cloud. We were all collectively just researching, holding onto hope that he can survive. I just want him home where he’s comfortable and loved.
My dad loves combing cloud with his paw brush. He brushes cloud until they both fall asleep. And hold hand to paw while snoozing.
Last night when we thought we were going to lose him, my dad wanted to brush him with his paw brush one last time and brought it with him. Thankfully, Cloud by that time, was still breathing.
I started a GoFundMe page for Cloud. Anything, literally, anything helps. Every penny will go into Cloud's vet bills, medications and tests. If you’re also in a financial situation, then all I ask is for some prayers and blessings to Cloud. He is an amazing cat and no matter who you are he will run up to you for butt pats. Please share if you can. If there’s anything I want to ask in this life, then I ask to please save Cloud. I really appreciate it. Thank you so much ♥️
