Help with a couple months of rent and basic needs
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Robert. I’m originally from New York but Philly has been home since 2021. I’ve really loved connecting with my neighbors and supporting environmental justice causes through the Sunrise Movement. I’m looking forward to stabilizing my own situation so that I can get back to focusing on helping others.
I'm trying to raise at least 2,000 for a way to pay rent, groceries and utilities for the next couple months as a situation beyond my control has left me in a precarious situation.
I recently had an issue with my landlord where I was forced to leave my home unexpectedly, had to move into a new place and lost my job in the process.
I am currently applying to jobs, but I have no savings because my last job paid minimum wage and the store I worked for cut our hours down to less than 10 hours/week, so I had to spend everything I was earning on basic living expenses and the deposit for my new housing. Navigating this unexpected housing transition also consumed all of the time & energy that I would have otherwise spent finding a new job earlier.
My rent costs 525/month, and I'm hoping to raise enough to cover two months' rent plus food, utilities, transportation and any other expenses that come up. $2,000 is the bare minimum that I need, although something closer to $5,000 would help me rebuild a safety buffer. Thank you so much in advance for helping!
