Hello everyone! My name is Mario Rodriguez. I was born with a genetic disorder called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. It’s a connective tissue disorder. All of my joints are loose and I cut and scar easily. I dislocate and it’s painful. I have been to the hospital for stitches too many times to count for a couple thousand stitches over the years. Calcified hematomas that burst down deep into the tissue because my skin is stretchy and continues to give until they burst.
I was in a serious car accident last year and am finally gaining more function, but nothing like before the accident. I have two hernias on my sternum and they are preventing me from using my core properly for strength.
This summer my family had planned to take a trip to The Ark Museum in KY and my wife bought a Detroit Zoo Membership. My son and wife camp a lot but I usually stay behind because I have trouble walking any distance.
I have felt shame because of my weight, which I am down under 400lbs for the first time in years, but my ailments prevent me from any serious workouts. To try and explain my situation takes more effort than to just sit through the advice many give. I start physical therapy as soon as next week.
I am asking for help to buy this cart and a ramp to put it on the back of my truck so I can participate with my family as much as possible. Don't worry I can still walk and if I look like an old man as I do I hope you understand. I am still djing weddings with a sidekick who does all my setup and tear down.
I realize there are other options for carts but this one is the only one I've found that will hold this much weight so I can bring along Gideon and or Angel. This is the only one that will go 100 miles on a single charge and will drive 12mph. I appreciate anything you feel like you can give. It's hard for me to ask.
