On Saturday January 16, 2016 Melissa went to the emergency room because she wasn’t feeling well. After doing some initial blood work, Doctors decided to send her to UC Davis Medical Center for further testing. After a few long days and more tests she was officially diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, known as AML. AML starts in the body's bone marrow and in most cases quickly moves into the blood.
Melissa will be at UC Davis for the next month receiving chemotherapy treatment where she can be closely monitored by her doctors. At the end of this treatment her condition will be reassessed and doctors will make a plan from there.
As her family, we have vowed to be by her side supporting her every step of the way and part of that support is making sure that she isn’t put under any unnecessary stress. We would like to help both Melissa and her fiancé, Joey, by making sure that their bills here at home are taken care of and that the simple things like gas to and from Sacramento and hotel costs don’t become a worry.
Melissa plans on winning this fight and we are asking for your support along the way.
