Hello all this is Nellie
Nellie is a happy, outgoing and adventurous nine year old girl. At the age of two she was diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic condition called Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Nellie is unable to walk and relies heavily on her wheelchair, which she has grown to love knowing that it gives her more independence to do what she enjoys best.
However, going outdoors has proved difficult and after trying out an All- Terrain Powered Wheelchair, we could all see how much it would benefit her and her growing independence. The chair has opened her eyes to what she could explore with the help of a more adapted wheelchair. Once purchased Nellie would like other young people to also have use of it at any given time.
My name's Leon and I have known Nellie for 5 years and seen how she has developed over that time. Nellie is a constant inspiration to us all and with that in mind, I am planning three challenges to raise funds in Nellie's name. Please see our Instagram page, 3challenge4nellie, where we will be posting announcements and updates on our progress.
Challenge 1- #norfolkfornellie. 62km walk from Hunstanton to Cromer in two days (mid February 2025).
