Fight With Kate: One Tough Chick
Donation protected
Hi All - we have set this page up to support Kate Stack.
Kate was diagnosed with AML Leukemia this past September and was immediately admitted to Columbia Presbyterian- Cornell where she began her 1st round of chemo treatment. By October - Kate was in remission and was able to recover at home. Kate's doctors felt her best chance of staying in remission with the type of cancer she had been diagnosed with, was to have a bone marrow transplant. Her brother was tested and luckily was a perfect match. In November, Kate was admitted again for another round of aggressive treatment to prepare her for the transplant which took place in mid-November. Three weeks later, her blood counts were back to normal - the transplant seemed to be working and she was released in time to spend Christmas at home with her family.
In mid-January, Kate went in for her weekly blood test and the doctors informed her that the results showed the cancer was back. Now that the transplant has failed and she relapsed, her doctors felt the best course of treatment was to enroll her in a clinical trial. Kate was once again admitted this past week and will soon begin treatment.
For any of those who have been impacted by this disease - whether directly, or via a family member - you have seen the financial burden the medical bills can put on a family. For Kate right now, her mind and spirit should be focused on her health and recovery. We are hoping to take this opportunity to do what we can in terms of financial support. Kate is so grateful to have friends, friends, and colleagues like you all. Any support is greatly appreciated. Her brother Paul will be managing the finances of this account and will be making withdrawls on Katie's behalf.
Wishing you all the best!
