Queridos amigos, familiares y personas de buen corazón,

Con profundo dolor compartimos la pérdida inesperada y devastadora de nuestro amado hijo, pareja, hermano y sobrino, Andy. En este momento tan difícil, acudimos a ustedes para pedir su apoyo con el fin de cubrir gastos urgentes e importantes, incluyendo los costos del funeral y un memorial para honrar su vida.

Andy nos fue arrebatado demasiado pronto, y mientras tratamos de sobrellevar este inmenso dolor, también enfrentamos la carga económica de despedirnos. Su apoyo nos permitirá recordar a Andy y, al mismo tiempo, ayudar a nuestra familia en estos momentos.

Reconocemos también que este es otro caso más en nuestra comunidad en el que se ha perdido una vida por causa de la violencia, y donde la impunidad parece imponerse sobre la transparencia. Hemos leído en redes sociales cómo se mancha la memoria de Andy, mientras se celebra al hombre que le disparó. Demasiadas veces, en actos de violencia, quienes mueren son personas de color y quienes viven en libertad no lo son. Uno muere y el otro queda libre. Nos espera un largo camino de sanación y justicia. Hoy nuestra familia está de luto, pero siempre desearemos que nuestra juventud esté protegida y pueda vivir sin miedo de caminar por las calles.

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted people,

 

It is with deep sorrow that we share the unexpected and devastating loss of our beloved son, partner, brother, nephew Andy. In this incredibly difficult moment, we are reaching out to ask for your support to help cover urgent and important expenses, funeral costs, and a memorial to honor his life.

 

Andy was taken from us far too soon, and as we try to cope with this pain, we are also facing the financial burden of saying goodbye. Your support will both remember Andy and help our family at this time.

 

We also recognize that this is yet another case in our community where a life has been lost to violence, and impunity would seem to prevail over transparency. We read on social media how Andy’s memory is being stained while the man who shot him is being celebrated. Too often in acts of violence those who die are people of color and those live are not. One dies and one lives free. We have a long road of healing and justice ahead of us. Today, our family is in mourning; but we will always want our youth to be protected and to live without fear of walking the streets.

 

Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. Your support will help lift this heavy burden and allow us to focus on healing and remembering the love, joy, and light that Andy brought into our lives.
