Hello! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. My mother has been battling stage 4 colon cancer for 4 years. After each treatment, she has beat the disease down smaller and smaller resulting in a remission diagnosis earlier this year.

After this great news her surgeons were eager to reverse her ileostomy so that she can begin to lead a more normal life. Ileostomies do not last forever; my mom’s started failing before her remission diagnosis so this was an urgent matter. So urgent that it could not be done in January when my dad would have had paid time off. He previously has used his allotted PTO for other surgeries my mother had to undergo. This brings us to our current predicament.

My father filed for an intermittent leave of absence. This would allow him to work and earn money one week and then be home the next. The doctors accidentally filed the leave as continuous and submitted it. Once submitted with the third party that my father’s job works with, it cannot be changed.

We are not ones to ask for anything especially during this time of the year. Their children are helping where they can; however, a full months of expenses are needed so that they do not fall behind during my mother’s time of recovery. We appreciate all help even if it is just sharing this fundraiser.
