If you are lucky enough to know this beautiful lady then I know for sure how much you love her. Denise has put so many smiles on so many faces with her laughter, her love for everyone and her forever kindness. Now it is our turn to help put that smile and laughter back into this beautiful soul.
On July 10th 2020 Denise heard those awful words. “You have cancer.” Those words are enough to knock the wind out of anyone’s sails. Unfortunately our beautiful friend, mother, sister, grandmother would have much more to handle on this path towards being healthy and vibrant once again.
Denise’s journey actually started in March 2020. Denise started feeling numbness on her right side in her hand, arm, leg and foot. The pain was excruciating. She had pain walking and had to take a leave from her job of 18 years as she no longer had function in her hand and she no longer could walk on her own. Her daughters decided at this time she could no longer live on her own. Denise had now lost all her much loved independence and they still had no idea what was causing this. It was after many appointments they found out she had lung cancer that was inoperable.
Denise would be put on a chemo regime and hopefully radiation tohelp shrink the tumour which they felt was resting on nerves that were causing her this severe pain and numbness to her limbs. It has now started on the left side and she only has use of a couple fingers and has great pain when trying to walk.
Denise started her chemo July 24th and started vomiting uncontrollably. She was so sick her daughters had to rush her to the hospital where she stayed for almost two weeks. They discovered on top of all this cancer crap our friend had Thrush in her throat and also down her esophagus. She couldn’t keep her food down. With antibiotics they started getting this under control but still had to put a feeding tube in as Denise was not getting enough fluids.
Denise was finally allowed to leave the hospital after a 25 day stay to live with her daughter as she has trouble walking, feeding herself and taking care of herself. There is medication that needs to be administered and a constant routine of water in her feeding tube, and encouraging Denise to eat even if it is small bites.
Her daughter, Shelby who is looking after her at her house also can no longer work as she had a home daycare business and with COVID she can’t chance having children in her home that might compromise Denise’s health. Shelby has a 7 year old daughter that she can’t send to school in September due the risk of COVID.
This family has been dealt more than any family should be. They have to rent a hospital bed that is not covered and parking alone at the hospital is $50/week. Denise needs to drink Ensure or something similar which is not covered by the government.
I am asking and hoping that you will have it in your heart to help our friend. Any amount will help this family so much. As I said before if you know Denise then I know you love her. She is that special person that radiates kindness and love. This is going to be a long hard journey that really has just begun and this family needs our help.
Love to all and keep praying and sending strong healing vibes to our friend. Continue this fight Denise! ❤️❤️❤️
