On August 28, 2024, Toryn Grace was born to Luke and Beth Fontaine, completing their family of 6. Shortly after she was born, when little Tory opened her eyes, her parents noticed something wasn't right. She was then diagnosed with a condition called Aniridia, a rare eye disorder. Aniridia is also a marker for a syndrome for a more serious condition, so Tory began to undergo genetic testing. After two months of waiting, Luke and Beth received the results, and baby Toryn was diagnosed with WAGR syndrome, a more complicated, rare, and serious diagnosis.
Because WAGR has a chance of developing Wilms Tumor on the kidneys, Tory was screened every 3 months by ultrasound. All of her scans were clear until after her 1st birthday, they found a suspicious spot on her kidney. With her condition being a marker for this type of cancer, they were sent a few weeks later for an MRI to see what the spot could be. Sadly after the imaging that day, Beth left the hospital with the devastating news that their precious baby girl had 3 large tumors on both of her kidneys.
Since the MRI, Beth has travelled nearly 2 hours away from their home to the Children's Hospital to meet with doctors, nurses, and specialists to come up with a treatment plan for sweet Tory. Between taking care of their other 3 children, and taking care of Toryn and her needs during her treatments and impending surgery, we are looking to raise support to take care of any financial burdens during this time. If you feel compelled to give to this precious family, it would be going towards gas money, medication costs, potential hotel stays, groceries, and will help to alleviate any financial stress in the coming months.
Above all else, we also ask that you join us in prayer for Toryn and her family. We are asking the Lord to heal her little body, and that her family would testify of the hope that lies within them as they rest in the Gospel. We have been so encouraged to see this family leaning on the Lord for strength, and we continue to cry out to the Lord, asking Him to strengthen them and equip them for each day that lies ahead.
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:18,38-39
