Tanner Morrison is a friend to everyone and the kind of guy who will show up to help anyone in their time of need. He has built a beautiful family with his wife of four years, Katie, and their two amazing little girls, Emmy (3) and Addy (2 months). Now, the Morrison family needs our support.
After a year and a half of increasing pain and decreasing mobility, Tanner was diagnosed in May with Chondrosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer, just a month after the birth of their youngest daughter. In July, Tanner will undergo extensive surgery to remove the majority of his hip, femoral head, and part of his pelvis to remove the affected bone and mechanically reconstruct the area to give him the best chance at normal activities after recovery. This is the only treatment option for this form of cancer. The surgery will be extremely intense, and Tanner will spend up to 12 weeks in a rehabilitation facility before coming home. Even once he is home, he will be non-weight bearing for several months and will not be back to regular activity for up to two years. This is, understandably, a very difficult prospect for Tanner, who is extremely active, working in construction management, and playing golf, basketball, and disc golf, as well as for his wife Katie who will be managing their young family and household while working full-time and caring for Tanner.
We are collecting funds to support the Morrison family during this incredibly challenging time. Funds will be used to pay medical bills and support Katie as she manages their home and cares for their two girls during Tanner’s surgery and recovery with services such as a house cleaner, childcare, grocery delivery, and so on. We will also provide support in making sure their home is accessible for Tanner after his surgery and purchasing any medical equipment needed after his stay in the rehabilitation facility.
The Callahan family is also coordinating non-financial support (such as a meal train, help with housework and yard work, respite care for Katie, and so on); please contact Morgan if you would like to assist in those areas.
