Service Dog for Kai

Hello!! As you all know, Kai was diagnosed with Autism at age 2.5. Since the beginning of the pandemic, everyday has been a struggle, especially for him. He gets very overwhelmed, stims a lot and has horrible meltdowns! His social skills are pretty much nonexistent, especially when it comes to his cousins; he’s just so angry all of the time. I know that getting him a service animal would be just what he needs. I spoke with a lady at an organization that trains dogs especially for kids with Autism. Whenever Kai gets overwhelmed or has a meltdown, his dog would lay in his lap to give him the deep pressure he needs to calm him down. I have tried everything possible, weighted blankets and vests, and nothing has really helped. The dog would also be tethered to Kai to keep him safe, because Kai has no sense of danger and always tries to run off. His dog would also be able to search for him, in case Kai gets lost. I, more than anything, want to get a companion for Kai, but the cost is out of my reach. It would cost me $16,000 to get a service animal trained especially for Kai.
