Donation protected
The Zhong Yi Kung Fu Association has been teaching and presenting traditional Chinese martial arts and its culture in the Madison, WI area for 20 years. Besides being involved in the local community in various activities we also prepare local competitors for regional, national and international level competitions on a yearly basis.
Every three years a traditional kung fu world championship tournament is held to determine who are the best fighters and forms competitors, and teams, in the world of Chinese martial arts. This event is sanctioned by the World Kuoshu (Kung Fu) Federation and this year will be held in Mendoza, Argentina on September 25th – 27th.

Two of our school's instructors have been selected to represent the US in this prestigious event. This was due to their outstanding performances at the US Team Trials, held by the United States Kuoshu Federation in Hunt Valley, MD July 24th - 26th. Each will compete in a different event, one in Lei Tai (Chinese full contact fighting), the other in Taolu (traditional Chinese martial arts routines).

Andrew Nepstad has been selected as a member of the US Kuoshu Lei Tai Team. Andrew has been a regional Lei Tai champion (2011 and 2012), ranked second nationally (2014) and is this year's current heavyweight champion (July 2015). Andrew has worked very hard and made many sacrifices over the years to earn this spot on the US Team. His matches this year show that his hard work and dedication have paid off and he is very excited about the opportunity to represent the US in a world championship tournament.

Paul Liss has been selected as a member of the US Kuoshu Taolu Team. Paul has been a regional, national and international taolu champion in both hand sets and weapons, including his favorite the jian (Chinese strightsword), in various competitions throughout the years (2006-2015). He has consistently placed in the top three spots at many tournaments over the years as well. Paul also has had the honor to represented the US at World Championships in Germany and Ireland, where he became a World Champion (Dublin, 2013). Paul is also honored to be able to represent the US once again on the world stage.

Shifu Nelson Ferreira has coached both of these athletes over many years (2006 to present) and is an accomplished coach having team and individuals winning at regional, national, international and world levels. Shifu Ferreira has coached the US Team at the Pan-American Kuoshu Championships in Brazil (2001) taking the team to a respectable third place finish as well as coaching the US Team to become World Champions in Singapore (2006), the first time the US won a Kuoshu championship in Asia.
We would like to send all three individuals to the World Kuoshu Championship Tournament in Mendoza, Argentina to represent the US as well as Madison, Wisconsin and their school, the Zhong Yi Kung Fu Association.
